Olivier works in Betschdorf, France as a plant manager for our Enclosures business segment. He has been with us for over 19 years. Olivier’s journey is an inspiring tale of ambition, persistence, and the power of positive thinking.

Olivier began his career as an apprentice with aspirations of becoming a production manager. Not much longer after joining the team, he was given the opportunity to put his dreams into motion. “I had the chance after two years of apprenticeship to be hired by Schroff (now a part of nVent) as a team leader in production,” Olivier recalls.

Over the years, Olivier has worn many hats within the plant, including engineering, lean and production management. Each position has allowed him to gain a wealth of experience in the manufacturing industry. His steadfast focus on forward-thinking and problem-solving has been a driving force behind his success. “No day is ever the same…that’s what I like. As I collaborate with my team, we solve issues together,” says Olivier. “I encourage them to find solutions that eliminate waste.”

Olivier’s first year as plant manager was eye-opening and filled with an abundance of learning opportunities. With a large backlog of overdue orders and pressure coming from all directions, his positive attitude and the support of his team helped them finish the year without any backlog remaining. For Olivier, managing others starts with recognizing that success isn’t a solo sport. As an avid basketball player of 30 years, he applies what he knows about teamwork to his day-to-day experiences at nVent. Authenticity is another integral part of his management style because he believes it is critical for establishing and maintaining trust. With these as his leading principles, his teammates are motivated to accomplish things that sometimes appear unachievable.

A positive attitude will allow you to overcome challenges and set the team up for success,” he advises.
