nVent is honored to announce that it has been designated by The Age Friendly Institute as a Certified Age Friendly Employer (CAFE), joining more than 100 of the largest, forward-thinking employers in the U.S. The purpose of the CAFE program is to assist age 50+ job seekers by identifying those employers committed to objectively considering them for appropriate employment, free of ageism.
To achieve this certification, nVent underwent a confidential review where multiple factors were evaluated – both through independent research and employee interviews. The findings were then compared against 12 best practice standards and policies within the general commerce and technology industries. nVent proved to be an organization that values the experience, knowledge, maturity, reliability and productivity of its workforce that is over the age of 50.
“Maintaining a culture that reveres inclusivity and diversity is what makes nVent stand out as an organization,” said Laura Brock, nVent’s chief diversity officer. “This new award is yet another step forward showcasing the importance and value of the generational differences of our workforce.”
Respect and teamwork are central values of nVent’s culture. We make it an absolute priority to recognize and celebrate the people around us. Valuing the different experiences and perspectives of others is foundational for our success. We appreciate personal connections, knowing that each person is unique and that learning from one another creates an environment where our people can do their best work.
In 2021, the ENCORE Employee Resource Group (ERG) was founded with the mission of assisting late-career nVent employees by providing a forum for learning, support and continued personal growth while embracing the experience, skills and wisdom they have acquired. More than 160 employees already have gotten involved with ENCORE, which has the slogan “where wisdom and experience is celebrated.” Over the past year they have educated their members about everything from gardening and bees to retirement planning and caregiving. They also spearheaded the process of obtaining the CAFE designation – demonstrating the impact ERGs can make.
“As co-chairs of ENCORE, Steve Marrero and I are excited by this certification,” said Heidi Castelein, a senior equity specialist. “It shows nVent’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. It serves as another indication that nVent values current and prospective employees of all ages and throughout all stages of their careers.”
