Many owners of the nVent NUHEAT Signature thermostat currently enjoy Works With Nest (WWN) integration, which we launched back in 2014. This functionality allows Signature owners to automatically set their Nuheat systems to the set-back temperature using Nest’s Home/Away detection.

In the Spring of 2019, Google announced they would wind down the WWN program on August 31, 2019 and transition Nest users to the Works with Google Assistant (WWGA) platform. This announcement resulted in many questions from Signature owners about how this will affect their Nest-Signature integration. Based on recent announcements from Google, most Signature owners should be able to continue using the integration with minimum disruption.

Google updated their plan for retiring WWN by saying that existing Nest integrations will continue to work after August 31, 2019 but they will not allow new WWN connections and they will not add any new functionality after this date.

New features will be added on the WWGA platform; therefore, Nest owners will need to transition to a Google account to take advantage of any future updates. The good news for Signature owners is that nVent launched WWGA integration for Signature in January, 2019! This means that when Nest Home/Away routines are available on WWGA, Signature is already set up to take full advantage and you should receive an email from Google when they are ready.

In the meantime, Signature owners can visit www.nuheat.com/connected-home to learn how to set up WWGA functionality for Signature along with integrations for IFTTT, Amazon Alexa, and more.
