“nVent values people and is willing to invest in them.”

Career advancement was one of Cheryl’s main goals when she came to nVent. Two years later, that has become a reality due to her ability to stay curious and connect with others. She initially joined us as a senior pricing analyst working remotely from the Chicago, Illinois area. She has since transitioned to a newly created role as a channel excellence project leader position within our Enterprise commercial excellence team.

“I decided to pursue this opportunity because I was looking for a way to grow my career and take on new challenges that would allow me to use my skills and experience in account management, distribution and negotiation in a different way,” stated Cheryl. “I was also interested in learning more about our channel business and how I could contribute to its success.”

Cheryl was fully supported by her previous manager, HR teammates, and mentors who shared their guidance and helped her navigate the change. Since making the move to this recently established team, she has been motivated by learning the integrated collaboration with our channel partner network and by meeting new people.

Being a member of a new team is exhilarating for Cheryl because it has generated the opportunity for foundations of respect, teamwork, partnership, and inclusivity to be built. “The seamless integration of diverse skills and the shared history of past collaborations have fostered a strong camaraderie,” she commented. “We did a group assessment as a team, which helped us understand our personality types, strengths, and preferences. It was a fun and insightful activity that helped us bond as a team and learn how to work better together.”

Cheryl was initially drawn to nVent because of our commitment to inclusion and diversity. She saw how we celebrate and encourage authenticity with our people. It was the spark that helped her visualize that she had a place at nVent and would be valued for everything she would bring with her.

“nVent values people and is willing to invest in them,” said Cheryl. “They want people to feel appreciated, seen and heard.” On top of that, she is pleased with the emphasis on employee health and participates in the annual wellness program that motivates employees to be accountable for living a healthy lifestyle through challenges, webinars and personal coaching.

Networking and learning from others, even those outside of your immediate job function, has been a large contributor to Cheryl’s career success. As a leadership team member of our Connecting Cultures employee resource group (ERG), she regularly collaborates with teammates all over the world. “Creating strong, healthy relationships helps with establishing trust and makes coming to work enjoyable,” said Cheryl. “Networking allows you to learn about the company more and possibly expand your views, or even your role.”
