TOP REASONS WIRE ROPE IS BETTER THAN METAL STRAP:

A wire rope support system often is used as an alternative to metal strap for small mechanical applications. Although metal strap is used in similar situations as wire rope, several key differences make wire rope a better option for any hanging application.

1. Speed

Compared to a wire rope system, installers need more time to install metal strap because it requires more steps. Strap is attached to the structure with a small screw, and each screw takes time to self-drive through the layers of steel. Wire rope systems are delivered ready to install and can be quickly adjusted. Metal strap needs to be measured, cut, and adjusted to the appropriate length.

2. Adjustability

Small adjustments are easier to make with a wire rope system because the wire can be unlocked and moved. To adjust metal strap, the entire system needs to be disassembled, cut, and rehung.

3. Flexibility

Although metal strap is flexible, its flexibility is limited. Due to its flat shape, it is impossible to arrange at certain angles because the strap can only be bent in one dimension. In contrast, wire rope is equally flexible throughout and in any direction.

4. Strength

Strap can be strong, but it usually has a comparatively weak attachment to the structure. Unlike wire rope systems that come with a variety of end fittings, metal straps are often attached to the structure with a screw.
